What You’ll Be Doing
The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides corporate, government and institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital, and grow and invest actively throughout North America and key financial centres around the world.
To deliver on its vision to be our clients’ preferred capital markets banking partner across multiple products and services, both in Canada and where our core competencies can be exported.
The Capital Markets mission is to bring Canadian Capital Markets products to Canada and the rest of the world, and also bring the world to Canada.
Working directly for the Private Capital coverage lead within Global Markets, the incumbent will support the distribution of derivatives and select financing products for Private Equity, Growth Equity, Venture Capital and Private Credit clients.
The role operates in a fast-paced trading floor environment as part of a dynamic, hardworking, production-focused sales team.
The incumbent’s mandate is to provide exceptional service and support to the Private Capital coverage effort and the individual must be a trusted partner, providing dedicated support for each district within their geographic coverage area.
How You’ll Succeed
Reporting to the Executive Director, Private Capital coverage, the successful candidate will be accountable for the following core responsibilities:
Work closely with team, traders, RMG, risk, Corporate Banking and Investment Banking to develop appropriate solutions and timely execution of transactions
Determine and provide product / rate information to our clients in a timely manner with exemplary service
Support broad client coverage effort by developing presentations, modelling transactions and creating / maintaining associated client coverage databases and information sources
Monitor/track and analyze market activities, economic factors, on an ongoing basis throughout the day to be in a position to respond to client requests
On your own initiative, develop product knowledge through directed or self-directed study.
Be prepared to cross train when the appropriate time arises, as suggested by management.
Share any developed skills, knowledge, ideas with management and other members of the Corporate Solutions Group.
Attend learning sessions held by the Trading Room as required
Who You Are
Minimum 3 years related experience; MBA, CFA or other relevant professional designation preferred
Experience with interest rate derivatives, financial statement analysis, funding/debt management
CSC and CPH considered an asset
Proven track record of results
Strong overall knowledge of Capital Markets with sufficient knowledge of the financial services industry / regulatory environment
Excellent analytical and intellectual capabilities; ability to draft comprehensive presentations using advanced frameworks in PowerPoint, Excel and Word
